Malaysian National Curriculum (KSSM)
At Sekolah Menengah Sri Acmar, we offer the Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Menengah (KSSM) from Form 1 to Form 5. Students sit for the PT3 examinations at Form 3 and SPM examinations at Form 5.
Students in Form 1 to Form 3 are taught Cambridge Lower Secondary (Cambridge Assessment International Education) English, Mathematics & Science, alongside the national curriculum of these subjects. The other compulsory subjects under the national curriculum include Bahasa Melayu, History, Geography, Design & Technology, Islamic Studies (for Muslim students), Moral Studies (for non-Muslim students) and Visual Arts Studies.
At Form 4, students have the option of studying in either science or humanities streams, leading to Form 5 and sit for the SPM Examination at the end of the year. The core subjects which the students need to take are Bahasa Melayu, English, Mathematics, Science (for students in the humanities stream), History and Islamic/Moral Studies. The elective subjects for science stream include Additional Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology while students in the humanities stream have the option to take Principles of Accounts, Economics, Visual Arts Studies and/or Mandarin as elective subjects.
Dual Language Programme (DLP)
Sekolah Menengah Sri Acmar has gained approval from the Ministry of Education to implement the Dual Language Programme (DLP) since 2016. Under this programme, schools have the option to teach Science, Mathematics and ICT in either English or Bahasa Melayu. In Sekolah Menengah Sri Acmar, we teach these subjects in English.
